Accelerated Tech Pathway

The Accelerated Tech Pathway offers expedited processing for Express Entry candidates with technology sector experience in Alberta.

To qualify for this stream, you must fulfill these eligibility criteria:

  • Express Entry Profile – Have an active Express Entry profile and CRS score of at least 300 points.
  • Tech Sector Job Offer – Have a valid job offer for one of 38 in-demand tech occupations in Alberta identified by the province.

OR

  • Currently Employed in Alberta Tech Sector – Currently work full-time for an Alberta tech employer in one of the identified tech occupations.

Alberta Opportunity Stream

The Alberta Opportunity Stream allows existing workers in the province holding a valid job offer to gain permanent residency.

To qualify, you must meet these mandatory criteria:

  • Have a work permit – You must have a valid work permit and be currently employed in Alberta.
  • Job offer under NOC 0, A or B – You must have a full-time job offer in an occupation classified under NOC skill type 0, A or B. Self-employment does not qualify.
  • Meet language requirements – Demonstrate at least CLB level 4 through standardized testing. Higher levels are required for specific occupations.
  • Educational credential – Possess a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Recent work experience – Have at least 12 months of full-time work experience in Alberta in the past 18 months.

This stream allows current temporary workers and international student graduates with Alberta job offers to transition to permanent residence.

Rural Renewal Stream

The Rural Renewal Stream helps rural communities in Alberta recruit foreign workers.

To qualify, the following criteria must be met:

  • Have a job offer – Secure a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in rural Alberta.
  • Obtain community endorsement – The local community must provide a Letter of Support.
  • At least 12 months of related work experience in the previous 18 months.

  • Business experience – 3 years owning a business OR 4 years in a senior management role.
  • Investment funds – Minimum of $200,000 to invest in the business.
  • Personal net worth – Must have a net worth of at least $300,000 CAD.
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Language – Ability in either English or French at minimum CLB 4.
  • Job creation – The business must create at least 1 permanent full-time job.
  • Community approval – Must obtain a Letter of Support from the local community.

Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

This stream allows graduates outside Canada to obtain permanent residence by starting a business in Alberta.

To qualify, the following must be met:

  • Education – Must have a post-secondary credential completed in the past two years.

  • Business experience – At least 6 months as an active business owner/manager.
  • Investment funds – Have a minimum of $100,000 if the business is in an urban area or $50,000 if located outside Calgary/Edmonton.
  • Business ownership – Applicant must control at least 51% ownership if the business is outside Calgary/Edmonton. 34% if located in an urban area.
  • Settlement funds – Proof of sufficient settlement funds for applicants and dependents.
  • Business plan – Submit a comprehensive business plan.

Farm Stream

The AAIP Farm Stream allows experienced farmers to purchase or start a farm business in Alberta.

Step 1 – Check Eligibility

  • Verify that you meet the eligibility criteria for the specific stream.

Step 2 – Prepare Application

  • For Express Entry aligned streams, create an Express Entry profile.

After Getting Alberta PNP Nomination

Once you receive a provincial nomination under the AAIP, here’s what happens next:

  • Apply for PR – You can apply for permanent residence within 6 months through Express Entry using the nomination.
  • Medical/Biometrics – Complete the medical exam and provide the biometrics requested.
  • PR Decision – IRCC will assess your application and can issue a Confirmation of Permanent Residence if approved.
  • COPR – With COPR, you become a permanent resident. You can then move to Alberta.
  • PR Card – Upon landing in Canada, you will be mailed the PR card as proof of status.
